We are looking for a talented On Site Service Technician – Level III to join our team specializing in Service for our Distribution Business Unit in Kitwe, Zambia.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways :

  • Technical Expertise: You’ll act as the go-to specialist for diagnosing and repairing equipment, ensuring high-quality service.
  • Customer Relations: By maintaining strong, productive relationships with customers, you’ll help minimize their product downtime and enhance their satisfaction.
  • Mentorship: Coaching and guiding less experienced technicians will help improve the overall skill level of the team.
  • Inventory Management: Efficiently managing parts and spares inventory will ensure that repairs can be completed promptly without unnecessary delays.
  • Issue Escalation: By escalating unresolved issues to specialists or supervisors, you’ll ensure that complex problems are addressed swiftly and effectively.
  • Documentation: Completing necessary documentation accurately will support warranty claims, quality control, and service records.
  • Sales Opportunities: Identifying additional sales and service opportunities will contribute to business growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhering to Health, Safety, and Environmental policies will ensure a safe working environment for everyone.

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in repairing and maintaining mechanical and electrical products, including engines and power generators, following established guidelines and using the required tools.
  • Diagnostic Skills: The ability to translate customer complaints into effective troubleshooting plans, using specialized equipment and software to diagnose and resolve issues accurately.
  • System Knowledge: A deep understanding of the interactions between various engine systems (electrical, mechanical, exhaust, heating, cooling, etc.) to diagnose and repair efficiently.
  • Industry Insight: Extensive knowledge of power generation and engine products, along with a basic understanding of competitors and typical industry practices.

Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • Apprentice Certified Power Generation and/or Engine Technician
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution (Preferred)
  • Current relevant electrical certification (optional)
  • Locally valid driving permit
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • High Voltage/ Low Voltage practical experience (optional)
  • EIZ certification
