The key purpose of this role is to lead the Maltings E&F team in achieving and exceeding production performance targets. This position requires a proactive leader who can drive operational excellence, optimize processes, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate autonomous maintenance and cleaning
  • Manage the equipment and lead the team during shift according to best operating practices whilst ensuring safe working practices are adhered to.
  • To make minor adjustments to machinery to maintain line efficiencies and quality requirements.
  • Monitor production processes
  • Interpret and implement production plan for shift
  • Support the team to improve process quality and productivity
  • Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy work environment
  • Ensure application of administration systems and procedures
  • Prepare and control budgets
  • Maintain safe, healthy and risk-free working environment
  • Implement safety, health & environmental legislation and procedures
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping standards
  • Availability and appropriate use of protective clothing by production staff ensured

Minimum Requirements:

  • Tertiary technical qualification, preferably Higher National Diploma or Bachelor degree in science field
  • Experience: 2-3 years in Brewing or Malting industry or related field at middle management level
  • Training: Min – 3 months on the job training Ideal – 6 months on the job training
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (eg. COSWIN)
  • Deep understanding of maintenance practices
  • Good understanding of the principles and practices of VPO
