Position:Crop Science & Value Chain (CSVC) Coordinator

Reporting To: Crop Science & Value Chain (CSVC) Commercial and Small-Scale Farmer Manager. Role Overview: To coordinate and control the agronomic and logistic support to small scale & commercial contracted growers and to ensure delivery of contracted volumes with minimum bad debt in compliance with (AOI) Alliance One International (Good Agriculture Practices) GAPs.

Key Responsibilities:  Crop Production Planning – attend the pre-season meetings to establish the numbers of growers, annual volumes of tobacco and projected yield & contributes to the pre-season planning in line with AOI Agronomy SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedure).  Crop Production – verify contracts and grower details through the Area Controllers, sign off the contracts and submit for authorization in compliance with AOI Agronomy SOP’s.  Train the Area Controllers and Field Technicians quarterly, participates in the regular training days and checks all GAP procedures are followed in line with AOI GAP’s and SOP’s.  Loan Recovery – establish that the Area Controllers and Field Technicians have recovered the required loans and volumes from the tobacco growers in compliance with AOI Agronomy Debt Recovery SOP’s.

Requisite Qualifications and Experience  Full Grade 12 Certificate  Minimum Degree in Agriculture/ Agronomy or similar/related field  Experience in tobacco growing and production in Zambia  Exposure to tobacco out-grower schemes and farmer operations is desirable  Knowledge of GAP and tobacco agricultural processes is an added advantage.
