JOB DETAILS:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates pumping equipment to transfer raw water to fields, turns valves, pulls levers, flips,
- Reads flow meters and gauges to regulate equipment according to water consumption and
demand,
- switches to operate and control turbine- or motor-driven pumps that transfer water from
canal to fields,
- Inspects equipment to detect malfunctions, such as pump leaks or worn bearings.
- Repairs and lubricates equipment, using hand tools,
- Records data, such as utilization of equipment, power consumption, and water output in
logbook,
- Occupational Health and Safety,
- Must also understand centre pivot operations.
Requirements and Experience
- Grade 12 school certificate
- Minimum Certificate in General Agricultural or Agricultural Engineering
- 2 years’ experience as an irrigation supervisor
- The candidate must have good interpersonal and computer skills, pay attention to details,
pro-active and innovative or demonstrate initiative
Work Hours: 8
Experience in Months: 12
Level of Education: Professional Certificate
